Steven E. Lee is Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer of CSMI. In his role as Chief Academic, Mr. Lee oversees the development and implementation of curricula, teacher performance monitoring and academic-technology programs.
Mr. Lee joined CSMI after serving as the CEO of the Chester Community Charter School for nearly a decade. During his tenure at CCCS, Mr. Lee was credited with developing a rigorous curriculum that allowed students to succeed in high school and beyond.
Prior to joining CCCS, Mr. Lee distinguished himself as a leading educator with more than 30 years experience. He began his career as an elementary school teacher and quickly moved into school administration. Mr. Lee continued to advance in responsibility from Assistant Principal, Principal, Supervisor of Title I, Director of School Administration, Director of Elementary Education and Director of School Operations, all in the largest school district in Delaware.
Mr. Lee is committed to developing creative and effective solutions to the challenges facing the education system in Chester, Pennsylvania, and to enhancing educational opportunities for all students living in predominantly low-income communities. Mr. Lee believes strongly in the ability of all children to learn when given the right tools. His passion for students’ success in life keeps him deeply involved in the high school search and selection program for matriculating eighth graders.
Mr. Lee received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Arts in Administration from Delaware State University and has participated in continuing education programs at the University of Delaware.
