Chester Community Charter School Graduates 219 Scholars

On Wednesday, June 1, and Thursday, June 2, Chester Community Charter School conferred the diplomas of 219 eighth-graders at the school’s annual commencement ceremony.

CCCS also recognized the achievements of 25 students in the eighth-grade class who have been awarded scholarships and financial assistance, totaling $167,000, to St. Andrews School, Monsignor Bonner & Prendergast Catholic High School, St. Elizabeth High School, Sts. Neumann-Goretti High School, and Cardinal O’Hara High School.

Lamar Duncan, member of the school’s varsity basketball team and West Campus student, was awarded a $55,500 grant per year, over a four-year period, to St. Andrews School, in Middletown, DE. He will be the first CCCS student, ever, to receive this award.

Graduating eighth-graders also honored Zenas “Nas” Powell, a 14-year-old CCCS East Campus student who was mercilessly gunned down in Chester recently. Robert Nichols, Zenas's father, accepted his son's diploma.

Zenas's 8th-grade class gifted his family with flowers, a box of notes, and a larger poster with their signatures.
