CSMI Mourns the Tragic Loss of Chester Community Charter School Scholar

CSMI and Chester Community Charter School are mourning the loss of a bright young scholars after a tragic shooting Saturday night.

Zenas Powell and his cousin, Quamar Powell, who was critically injured in the gunfire, were innocent bystanders in a shooting outside a corner store in the 1100 block of Pine Lane in Chester.

Zenas, a 14-year-old eighth grade scholar who attended Kindness Hall at Chester Community Charter School, was set to graduate next Wednesday. 

Vahan and Danielle Gureghian, CSMI's founders, offered to pay for the funeral costs.

A reward of $10,000 is being offered for an arrest in the case. The City of Chester is contributing $5,000, while the Gureghians are donating the other $5,000.
